Product Manager (m/f/d) – Financial Market Data

Frankfurt am Main
Full-time
Permanent employee

Company Description

Since its foundation in 2007, Solactive AG has evolved into one of the world’s most important and fastest-growing index providers. From our headquarters in Frankfurt, we power global investment products across ETFs, structured products, and mandates. Our reputation is built on innovation, speed, flexibility, and strong partnerships.

Job Overview

You will be one of the driving forces behind shaping how data flows into, through, and out of our data plattform. Your work directly supports the accuracy, reliability, and scalability of the indices and their data we operate — and by extension, the financial products that depend on them.

Your Tasks

We are looking for an experienced and technically grounded Product Manager / Product Owner to take ownership of our data prodcuts and services in out data platform.
In this role you will act as the central interface between data teams, business teams and product management — translating complex business demands into actionable product roadmaps and technology decisions.

Product Ownership & Strategy
  • Own and maintain the product backlog for data products, prioritizing features and improvements aligned with the long-term technology strategy.
  • Drive definition and communication of a coherent product vision, roadmap, and success metrics to all stakeholder groups.
  • Balance short-term operational requirements with strategic technology investments, ensuring technical debt is managed proactively.
  • Facilitate planning sessions with our business teams and IT to align priorities and dependencies.
Data Management
  • Design and oversee data ingestion pipelines and integration patterns between vendor feeds and internal databases.
  • Proactively identify data gaps or quality issues and drive resolution across vendor and internal teams.
Stakeholder & Requirements Management
  • Elicit, document, and validate business requirements from business teams; translate them into clear technical specifications for your product and team.
  • Act as translator between business and engineering — ensuring that user stories, acceptance criteria, and architectural decisions reflect both domain logic and technical constraints.
  • Facilitate workshops, sprint reviews, and retrospectives; maintain transparent communication on delivery status and risks.
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels, from operations analysts to senior leadership.
Technical Oversight
  • Review and understand architectural proposals for data storage, processing, and API integration and provide informed product guidance.
  • Collaborate with IT on defining data governance standards, access controls, and audit requirements relevant to financial data.
  • Monitor system performance and data quality KPIs; drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Your Profile

Experience & Background
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner, with a track record of delivering technical services or products in a financial industry context.
  • Proven background in at least one of the following domains: banking, portfolio management, asset management, financial data providers, or fintech.
  • Familiarity with index calculation, reference data, market data, or financial benchmarking is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
  • Understanding of data pipeline architectures (e.g., batch ingestion, API-based feeds, event-driven systems).
  • Ability to interpret and challenge technical designs — you do not need to code production software, but you must be fluent in the engineering conversation.
  • Familiarity with agile tooling (Jira, Confluence, or equivalent).
Soft Skills & Mindset
  • Exceptional ability to translate between business language and technical specifications — this is the core of the role.
  • Structured, analytical thinker who is comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex topics clearly to diverse audiences.
  • High degree of ownership and accountability — you drive outcomes, not just tasks.
  • Collaborative by default; skilled at building consensus without sacrificing speed.
Language & Education
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; German is a plus
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
