• Cost and capacity, Own the infrastructure budget, capacity planning, and hardware lifecycle.

• Cross-team interface, Be the partner for product, engineering, security, and IT. Make the platform something teams choose to use, not something they route around.

• Tech stack: Kubernetes, distributed storage (Ceph or equivalent), Linux systems, networking (BGP/EVPN, firewalls, L4/L7 load balancing), messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ), relational databases (MariaDB/Postgres), GitOps (ArgoCD), GCP.

• 8+ years in infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering, including significant experience running production on-premises (not cloud-only)
• Demonstrated leadership: line management of engineers, or tech-lead-plus scope with real accountability for a team's output. Formal management experience is welcome; a strong senior/staff engineer ready to step into their first Team Head role is equally welcome.
• You have a collaborative approach to how you work and ensure all groups are communicating with an understanding of your process and approach.
• You’re highly organised and have the ability to work on intricate details without losing the big picture.
• Fluency in the operational disciplines: observability, capacity planning, change management, incident command.
• Excellent written communication in English. You can write a design doc, a RFC, and a post-incident review that people actually read.
• You’re resourceful and solutions focused, making practical considerations for all groups involved.
• Outcome-driven: you track reliability, cost efficiency, and engineering velocity as business metrics, not just technical ones
• You’re a natural problem solver and have strong analytical skills.
• You’re a self learner and have an inquisitive mind.
